ASSOCIATION FACILITATES GRANTS
The Coast Guard Auxiliary Association is delighted to facilitate Auxiliary flotillas and divisions in receiving Boating Safety Grants sponsored by BoatU.S. Foundation. The grants are available to 501(C) 3 non-profit organizations such as the Association. Working with BoatU.S., we process the Auxiliary unit grant applications for submission. The Association receives the funds for the Auxiliary units that are awarded a grant then issues separate checks to each unit accordingly. We were proud to process applications and funding checks for the following recipients in 2008:
Flotilla 085-01-02 in Highlands Ranch, CO to produce banners for an informational booth that promotes life jacket wear.
Flotilla 081-02-03 in Durango, CO to produce 600 copies of an “On the River” poster that will be distributed to local businesses.
Flotilla 070-15-08 in Springhill, FL to build and install 5 kiosks at local boat ramps that will contain boating safety information.
Flotilla 082-08-07 in Lafayette, KY to produce and erect 14 signs containing safe fueling messages.
Flotilla 085-33-02 in Papillion, NE to purchase “skier down” flags and “I got caught wearing my life jacket” T-shirts.
Division 014-22 in Northport, NY to produce signs promoting life jacket use that will be erected at local boat launches.
Flotilla 053-01-09 in West Grove, PA to promote life jacket use through a poster contest at local schools.
We congratulate these award recipients and look forward to facilitating future grant applications for flotillas and divisions. Go to the Auxiliary Department of Boating website for guidance and information on applying for recreational boating safety grants. We strongly encourage each flotilla and division to seek grants offered by BoatU.S. as well as from other sources.
